WordPress – Customize Look & Color of Google Maps

Just a very short post today on a resource I use almost daily.  So many WordPress sites I develop these days utilize Google Maps in some way, shape, or form.  Whether it’s a local business wanting to place a marker on a map, or a complex site like Dock Skipper where we’re displaying search results.

For some strange reason, many people do not know about the unbelievable resource that is Snazzy Maps.  Snazzy Maps is a user submitted database of thousands of Google Map color variations.  You can filter based on popularity, color, and much more.  Once you find the perfect map to mesh with your theme, you simply copy and paste the styling generated into your Google Map JS file.  The exact method and placement of where you should insert that styling will vary from setup to setup but Snazzy Maps takes it a step further by allowing you to download an example file of the styling being used.

Overall, Snazzy Maps is a great resource and something you should add to your toolbox today.
